FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers on our two brands, custom and smart pallets, ChemTray trays, flexitanks and IBCs, ordering and delivery.

What does your group do?

We're a Houston-based transportation packaging group with two brands. Vanguard Polymer Packaging supplies physical transportation packaging: flexitanks, IBCs, accessories, custom pallets, foldable and nestable pallets, and knockdown totes. ChemTray Innovations, a separate brand within the group, offers engineered and intelligent packaging: smart, tracked pallets, reusable transport trays with leak sensing, and engineered polymer packaging for chemical, battery and advanced-manufacturing supply chains.

Where are you based?

We're headquartered in Houston, Texas. Our solutions are designed and engineered in Houston, Vanguard flexitanks and IBCs are stocked in Houston, and support comes from our Houston team.

Do you design custom pallets?

Yes. We design polymer pallets around your load, part geometry, weight, racking and handling equipment, including foldable and nestable formats and knockdown totes for return logistics.

How does smart pallet tracking work?

ChemTray smart pallets use RFID tags for automatic reads at docks, gates and warehouses, and IoT trackers for continuous location visibility between those points. Tracking can also be added to Vanguard custom pallets. Tell us your lanes and visibility needs and we'll recommend the right combination.

What is ChemTray Innovations?

ChemTray Innovations is a separate brand within the group, focused on engineered and intelligent packaging. It offers smart pallets with RFID and IoT location tracking, modular, reusable transport trays with leak sensing and inserts for smaller chemical containers, plus engineered polymer packaging for battery, semiconductor, electronics and automotive parts.

How does leak sensing work on ChemTray trays?

ChemTray trays use moisture-sensitive leak sensors designed to flag a leaking container early, so it can be dealt with before it spreads through a load. We configure sensing to your containers and chemicals.

Which industries do you serve?

Chemicals, EV batteries and energy storage, hydrogen energy, semiconductors and electronics, automotive and advanced manufacturing, food, oils and bulk liquids, and freight forwarders and logistics providers.

How do you develop a new pallet or tray solution?

We start with your load, lanes and handling, design and engineer the solution in Houston, prototype and validate it with your team, and then supply and support it.

Do you have flexitanks in Houston inventory?

Yes. We stock Vanguard flexitanks in all six sizes (18,000 to 24,000 L), 1,000 L paper IBCs and bulkheads in Houston, Texas, ready to ship. We confirm availability and a ship date with every quote.

What flexitank sizes do you offer?

Vanguard flexitanks in 18,000 L, 20,000 L, 21,000 L, 22,000 L, 23,000 L and 24,000 L for standard 20ft dry containers, plus 1,000 L paper (corrugated) IBCs for smaller volumes. The right size depends on your cargo's density and on container and road weight limits; tell us your product and we'll recommend one.

What is the standard flexitank specification?

Each Vanguard flexitank is designed and purpose-built, and quality-checked: 4-layer polyethylene film (125 micron) with a woven polypropylene outer layer, bottom load, bottom discharge (BLBD) with a 3-inch ball valve, supplied with a cardboard bulkhead and steel bulkhead bars. Other valve options and heater pads are available on request.

What cargoes can flexitanks carry?

Bulk non-hazardous liquids only, such as edible oils, glycerin, wine and juice concentrates, food ingredients and syrups, latex, lubricants and base oils, and non-hazardous chemicals. If you're not sure your product is suitable, ask us before you book.

Is there a minimum order?

No fixed minimum for flexitanks and IBCs; we quote single units as well as larger programs. For custom pallets and trays, quantities depend on the design, and we'll discuss them with you up front.

Do you deliver, and can you arrange ocean freight?

Yes. We ship from Houston to sites across the US; ask us for delivery cost and timing to your location. Ocean freight can be arranged on request.

How do I get a quote or start a project?

Use our quote form or email sales@getflexitanks.com with your product, quantities, timing and how your goods move. We'll reply with a recommendation, pricing and next steps.
